Job Summary

The Telecom Operator is an entry-level position within the Directorate: HRP & A under the Chief Directorate: HRM & D, specifically aligned to the HRP & A Programme.

The primary function of this role is to manage telecommunication systems, support administrative communication needs, and provide general reception duties in the district office.

Minimum Competencies

Applicants are expected to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of prescripts governing the Public Service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer literacy is beneficial

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 Certificate (essential)
  • Experience: No prior work experience required
  • Citizenship: South African citizen preferred

Position Responsibilities

The Telecom Operator will be responsible for:

  • Handling incoming and outgoing calls efficiently
  • Acting as a Receptionist for the district office
  • Managing district telephone systems
  • Taking and forwarding messages to relevant officials
  • Generating telephone bills for extensions
  • Maintaining records accurately
  • Promoting a positive image of the Department in line with Batho Pele Principles

Salary Package

  • Annual salary: R193 359 per year
