As a college, we will be observing a period of pride and gratitude of the journey we travelled
as an institution over 6 Decades. Our journey started in 1963 as Sibasa Ambag Bantu Skool
to Finyazwanda Trade Institute in 1985 to Technical College of Venda (Techniven) in 1991 and
ultimately Vhembe FET College in 2003. We have been privileged to witness the remarkable
revolution and evolution transformation of a foundation laid and built by various generations.
Vhembe TVET College is amongst the largest TVET Colleges in South Africa.
We are honoured to have served the Vhembe District for sixty years. Let us as a collective utilise
this opportunity to reflect on the journey travelled, its challenges and opportunities that we have
explored. During this period, we need to also extend tributes to those that steered this Ship and
kept it afloat. Furthermore, let us celebrate what we have achieved, there is a lot that we have
to celebrate. We acknowledge the continued support from external stakeholders that we have
enjoyed over the years. The support has bred strong partnerships that will continue to contribute
towards the success of the college and the community at large.
In the midst of the celebrations, I wish to encourage our staff and student component to work
hard and jointly produce competent industry leaders. Our vision it to continue to be an icon in
Technical and Vocational Education and Training of quality assured and responsive skills-based
programmes for lifelong learning. We pledge our continued commitment towards transformation,

Higher education has a critical role it can play towards building South Africa’s young democracy.
